Report: Individual Media Assistance on the Earthquake (March 2011)

post date : 2013.08.20

The earthquake disaster attracted many foreign reporters to Japan. In just three weeks immediately after the earthquake, we received over 25 requests and inquiries from media organizations of 16 countries including theUnited States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, China, and Malaysia

The scope of their interest is wide-ranging, from transportation to the disaster-stricken areas and media credentials to the impact on the Japanese and world economy, and influence on the distribution of foods and livestock feed. One journalist from a major Swiss newspaper, who had formerly been a correspondent in Tokyo, was ordered by his head office to evacuate from Tokyo as soon as he arrived in Japan, and reported from Kansai about thesafety of the nuclear power stations in Japan.
