Notice (Press Briefing): Japan’s East-Asia Diplomacy (August 8, 2013)

post date : 2013.08.21

Japan's East-Asia Diplomacy

Briefer: Mr. Yoshiki Mine, Research Director, Canon Institute for Global Studies

Mr. Akitaka Saiki, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited China from July 29 to 30, which was reported as a move for restoring Japan-China relations. Japan has a host of challenges worth noting vis-a-vis East Asia, including Japan-China relations, Japan-R.O.K. relations, in which a summit meeting is yet to be held since the Park Geun Hye Administration was inaugurated, and dealing with North Korea. Under the Abe Administration, which seems likely to be in power for some time, how will Japan's East Asia diplomacy be shaped?

FPCJ has invited Mr. Yoshiki Mine, Research Director of the Canon Institute for Global Studies, to talk about the problems and outlook of Japan's East-Asia diplomacy.

Date & Time: August 8 (Thu), 2013, 14:00-15:30

Place: Foreign Press Center/Japan (6th floor, Nippon Press Center Bldg.)

Language: Japanese (with consecutive English interpretation)

Embassy representatives and FPCJ supporting members may also attend the briefing as observers (admission free).
